Service Introduction

The system automatically identifies SMS that are suspected to be spam and prevents them from reaching you (*1). However, there may be cases where SMS that are not considered spam by you may be restricted. You can disable spam SMS blocking at any time. Click here to learn how to do this.

We understand the characteristics of spam SMS that fall into the following categories and refer to information such as the text of the SMS sent to you, and block SMS that match the characteristics of spam SMS from reaching you.

Phishing and other frauds involve posing as real delivery companies, financial institutions, online retailers, etc., and tricking users into installing fraudulent apps.
The content leads to websites or phone numbers that attempt to steal personal information such as bank account information.

How to cancel

This function can be disabled. If you disable it (add an option), you will receive SMS, including dangerous SMS.

Important Notice

The "Spam Message Blocking Feature," which automatically detects and displays warnings about suspicious SMS and messages and has been provided free of charge since March 24, 2022, will end free provision on February 28, 2023, following the launch of this feature.
If you wish to continue using this feature, you can subscribe to "Spam Message/Call Block" through au Smart Pass Premium or au Smart Pass. This service also provides warnings and information about spam calls, and blocks calls from anonymous numbers, public phones, out-of-service areas, and overseas, allowing you to use your smartphone with even greater peace of mind.

  • "Spam SMS Block" (hereinafter referred to as "this function") will be provided by changing the terms and conditions of the mobile communications contracts provided by KDDI.
  • Any changes to the terms and conditions will be announced separately when this feature is released.
  • This function does not guarantee that all suspicious SMS messages will be rejected.
  • SMS rejected by this function cannot be recovered.
  • If you want to re-apply this function after disabling it, you can re-configure it from the settings page of the "povo 2.0 app."
  • Information regarding suspicious SMS messages detected by this function will be stored on KDDI servers, anonymized and processed into statistical data, and may be used for the following purposes.
    • To improve the accuracy of this function
    • To request corrections from suspicious SMS senders and SMS relay companies
    • To prevent customers from accessing phishing sites
    • To take measures against suspicious SMS between mobile phone carriers
  • For the above purposes, we may disclose information about spam SMS to third parties after processing it into anonymized and statistical data.
