This service allows you to exchange your smartphone or tablet for a trade code* that can be used in the povo2.0 app, depending on the purchase price.
If you have a smartphone lying around at home, you can sell it without having to buy a new device.
Applications are also accepted by non povo2.0 users.

Application conditions

  • ・You must reside in Japan and be 18 years of age or older.
  • ・The number of vehicles purchased through this service within the past year must be five or less.
  • ・The device you are applying for must be a model eligible for purchase.

*Those who are not povo2.0 users can also apply for this service.*However, to use the trade code that can be exchanged for a purchase device, you will need a povo2.0 contract and the povo2.0 app.

Application Procedure

1Check if the model is eligible for purchase

2Complete the procedure on the "Smartphone Gigatrade Application Page"

3Return the device you applied for

  • ・A Yamato Transport sales driver will come to your home to collect the device on the date and time you reserved when applying.

4You will receive an email with the assessment results

  • ・It takes about 2 days from collection to arrival at our company (about 7 days for remote islands).
  • ・The appraisal results will be emailed to you within 7 business days after the device arrives at our company.

5You will receive a trade code via email

  • ・The trade code will be sent by email, usually within 3 business days after our assessment is completed.
  • ・For instructions on how to enter the trade code, please see "Trade Code Entry Procedure" below.

Trade Code Expiration

The trade code has a "data capacity" and "code entry deadline" depending on the purchase price of the device.
In addition, the data capacity of each code has a "data validity."

Q.Can I apply if my device has a cracked screen or scratches on the device itself?

You can apply, but the estimated price and purchase price may change depending on the condition of the device.

In addition, the estimated price on the application page is based on the device condition you have declared, so it may differ from the actual assessed price.

If any of the following conditions apply, Smartphone Gigatrade application will be canceled and the device you sent will be returned to you.

  • ・We cannot initialize the device.
  • ・The serial number (IMEI, etc.) cannot be confirmed.
  • ・The power won't turn on
  • ・Various locks (screen lock, activation lock, etc.) have not been released
  • ・Modified products, stolen or lost products
  • ・Products subject to network usage restrictions
  • ・If the "Find My Product" function (such as Find My iPhone) and Google account have not been deactivated
  • ・Other cases where the standards set by our company are not met.
Q.If I apply for Smartphone Gigatrade, how do I use the exchanged "giga"?
A.

Once the appraisal of the device you have applied to sell has been completed, a "trade code" equivalent to the appraised amount will be sent to you by email, usually within three business days.
The trade code can be applied from the promo code input screen in povo2.0 app.

How to use the trade code

Q.Can I use this service in conjunction with the "Kaetoku Program" and "Smartphone Toku Program" subscribed to by au, or programs subscribed to by other companies that require device trade-ins?
A.

Unfortunately, if you use this service, it cannot be used in conjunction with the benefits of au 's "Kaetoku Program" or "Smartphone Tokusuru Program," or programs offered by other companies that require trade-ins.

If there is any remaining balance on the device, you will need to pay it yourself, so please check the terms with the seller in advance.
In addition, once the device has been sent, you will not be able to cancel your purchase application.

Cases where items are not eligible for purchase

If any of the following conditions are met, the device will not be eligible for purchase and will be returned to you.

  • We cannot initialize the device.
  • The serial number (IMEI, etc.) cannot be verified.
  • The device does not power on.
  • Various locks (screen lock, activation lock, etc.) have not been unlocked
  • Modified, stolen or lost items
  • Network usage restrictions apply
  • If the product's "Find My Product" function (such as Find My iPhone) and Google account have not been deactivated
  • Any other case where the standards set by our company are not met.

The decision on whether or not to purchase will be made by our company.

Important Notice

  • Smartphone Gigatrade (hereinafter referred to as "this service") is available only to customers who reside in Japan and are 18 years of age or older.
  • This service can be used up to 5 times (5 devices) per customer per year. It cannot be used more than 6 times (6 devices).
  • The contract for this service will be concluded when we receive the product and determine the appraisal price. If the purchase is not concluded and the contract is terminated by any of the methods specified in the Terms of Use, the product will be returned to the customer.
  • Customers cannot request the return of the device (hereinafter referred to as the "Product") that has been sent to them or cancel their application.
  • Ownership of the Product will be transferred to us at the time we receive the Product (or at the time we hand it over to the mail carrier if it is delivered by mail, etc.). However, if this Agreement is terminated in any way specified in this Agreement and the Product is returned to you, ownership of the Product will be transferred back to you.
  • After the product is sent, it will be appraised according to the criteria separately determined by our company, but the purchase price may change depending on the condition of the product.
  • If the product arrives at our designated address more than 14 days after your application, the purchase price may change.
  • Even if the purchase price changes as a result of the appraisal, refunds and cancellations cannot be made once the product has been sent.
  • Notwithstanding the above, if the purchase price after appraisal of the product is 0 yen, the purchase will be rejected and the product will be returned to the customer.
  • This service cannot be used in conjunction with the benefits of au 's "Kaetoku Program" or "Smartphone Toku Program" or other companies' programs that require trade-ins. If you have a remaining balance on your device with another company, you will need to pay it yourself.
  • If you are using the "Smartphone Digital Certificate Function" with this product, you will need to complete the revocation procedure yourself before sending us your device.
    Before initializing your device, please complete the necessary procedures from your My Page on the My Number Portal app.

  • Please back up and initialize the data stored in this product yourself beforehand. After the product is collected, the data stored in this product will no longer be available, so please be sure to back up any necessary data. If any data remains in the model, we will erase it all and will not provide data recovery services. Furthermore, we will not be held responsible for any lost data.
  • Please be sure to carry out the procedures for canceling or transferring any applications or services you have been using with this product yourself. We will not be held responsible for any charges incurred if you apply for this service while continuing to use paid fees.
  • If items other than the models being recalled (such as earphones or SD memory cards) are sent, we will assume that ownership of those items has been waived and we will dispose of them at our discretion.
  • If the model you declared at the time of application differs from the model you actually sent, we will assume that you have applied for this service for the model you sent.
  • Your application for this service will be cancelled in the following cases:
    • If any of the information at the time of application differs from the address, name, or date of birth stated on the identity verification document submitted by the customer to the Company when applying to use the Service
    • If your identification document has validity
    • If the documents submitted to us at the time of application are not recognized as identity verification documents
  • This service may be changed without notice, and we will notify you in advance if we terminate this service.
  • In the following cases, you may not be eligible to receive the code (hereinafter referred to as "Trade Code") exclusive to this service that can be exchanged for data capacity available on povo2.0.
    • If you did not receive your trade code
    • If the trade code is resold or there is a possibility of it being resold
    • When receiving a trade code, if there is any possibility that fraudulent conduct* or conduct contrary to public order and morals has been committed
    • When there is a possibility of violating laws, regulations or these Terms of Use
    • When there is a possibility that the rights of our company or a third party are infringed or violated.
    • If the Company determines that the request is inappropriate for any other reasonable reason.

    *Fraudulent activity refers to any activity that we determine to be inappropriate (including, but not limited to, making large-scale purchase applications under multiple names, and falsifying names, email addresses, and other information).

  • We will not be held responsible if you are unable to receive your trade code due to network congestion, malfunctions, system maintenance, etc.
  • Even if you are unable to receive the trade code due to your own circumstances, the trade code will not be provided again.
  • All costs incurred in applying for this service or receiving a trade code (including, but not limited to, internet communication charges) will be borne by the customer.
  • If any event occurs that hinders the proper operation of the Service, if a similar situation occurs, or if any other event occurs that makes it difficult to continue the Service, the Company may at any time suspend or postpone the implementation of the Service.
  • We are not responsible for any damage or disadvantage caused by your use of the trade code. This service may not be able to be used in conjunction with other campaigns, etc. conducted by our company.
  • Even if the Company is liable for damages related to the Service, the scope of such liability shall be limited to direct and actual damages that would normally arise (excluding lost profits), except in cases where the Company is guilty of willful misconduct or gross negligence, and the amount of compensation shall be limited to the amount equivalent to the trade code assigned to the Product.
