If you are using an iPhone/iPad that supports eSIM quick transfer, you can request an eSIM reissue through the device's settings menu.
Since eKYC (electronic Know Your Customer) verification is not required and the eSIM can be downloaded automatically without using QR codes or other methods, changing your device becomes even easier.

*eSIM quick transfer is not available with the povo2.0 Data Only plan.

eSIM Quick Transfer allows you to transfer your current physical SIM card as an eSIM to a new iPhone.

Compatible Devices

This procedure is compatible with iOS 16/iPadOS 17.4 or later. If your new iPhone/iPad and your previous iPhone/iPad are not running iOS 16/iPadOS 17.4 or later, please be sure to update your iOS/iPadOS before proceeding.

*Please note that you may not be able to use this service if your device does not support eSIM quick transfer. In this case, please apply for a SIM reissue using the povo2.0 app.

Implementation Procedure

Reception hours: 7:00-23:50, 1:00-2:50

*The device screen shown is for an iPhone. iPad users can follow the same procedure.

STEP 1Set up Bluetooth
Please make sure that Bluetooth is turned on on both your new iPhone/iPad and your previous iPhone/iPad, and that a passcode is set on your previous iPhone/iPad.
STEP 2Complete the procedure on your new iPhone/iPad

    From the home screen, tap the "Settings" app, then tap "Mobile Data"

  • STEP2-2

    Tap "Set up mobile data"

    * If "Add Mobile Data" is displayed, tap "Add Mobile Data"

  • STEP2-3

    [New iPhone/iPad]

    Tap "Transfer from nearby iPhone/iPad"

  • STEP2-4

    [New iPhone/iPad]

    "Transfer from nearby iPhone/iPad" will be displayed

STEP 3Operate each iPhone/iPad and download the profile
  • STEP3-1

    [Your previous iPhone/iPad]/iPad]

    A message will appear asking you to transfer your phone number to your current iPhone/iPad. Tap "Continue."

  • STEP3-2

    [iPhone/iPad you have been using]

    A verification code will be displayed

  • STEP3-3

    [New iPhone/iPad]

    Enter the verification code 【03-2】 on your new iPhone/iPad

  • STEP3-4

    [New iPhone/iPad]

    Tap the phone number you want to reissue

    (If multiple phone numbers are displayed, tap the phone number you wish to reissue.)

  • STEP3-5

    eSIM profile download complete

STEP 4Opening completed
  • Please call the test number (111/toll-free), listen to the guidance to the end, and then hang up.

  • With Wi-Fi turned off, launch your browser and check whether you can access the website (povo) using mobile data.

*Before purchasing data Topping, it may take some time for the screen to display, but as long as the screen can be displayed, there is no problem.

STEP 1Follow the steps below to log in to iCloud and set a passcode on your new iPhone/iPad.
*Please make sure you are connected to a Wi-Fi or mobile network.

    "Sign in to your iPhone/iPad"
    Tap

    "Apple ID" and "Password"
    Enter the information and tap "Next"

  • STEP1-4

    [iPhone/iPad you have been using]

    An Apple ID verification code will be sent to your current iPhone/iPad via SMS.

  • STEP1-5

    Enter the code and sign in to iCloud

  • STEP1-6

    [New iPhone/iPad] [Previous iPhone/iPad]

    Enter the password you set for your iPhone/iPad.

    *To use this function, you will need to set a passcode on both your new iPhone/iPad and your old iPhone/iPad.

    From the home screen, open the Settings app
    Tap

    Tap "Face ID & Passcode"

    Tap "Turn Passcode On"

    After setting a passcode, enter the password for the Apple ID you are currently logged in with.

STEP 2Complete the procedure on your new iPhone/iPad

    From the home screen, tap the "Settings" app, then tap "Mobile Data"

    Tap "Set up mobile data"

    * If "Add Mobile Data" is displayed, tap "Add Mobile Data"

    Tap the phone number you want to reissue

    (If multiple phone numbers are displayed, tap the phone number you wish to reissue.)
STEP 3Operate each iPhone/iPad and download the profile

    A notification will appear on your iPhone/iPad asking "Do you want to transfer the SIM card for (the phone number you wish to reissue)?" Tap "Transfer SIM card."

  • STEP3-2

    eSIM profile download complete

  • Please call the test number (111/toll-free), listen to the guidance to the end, and then hang up.

  • With Wi-Fi turned off, launch your browser and check whether you can access the website (povo) using mobile data.

Precautions

  • *Please note that reception hours may change due to maintenance.
  • *Please note that operation is not guaranteed on iPhones/iPads other than those released in Japan.
  • *Transfer between iPhone and iPad is not supported.
  • *Please do not reset your old device before completing the eSIM reissue procedure.
    (If you are currently using an eSIM, after performing an all reset, you will not be able to reissue the eSIM from the device settings.)
  • *If you have already reset your old device, please contact povo support (chat desk) (9:00-19:00).
  • *If your new iPhone is SIM-locked, please be sure to unlock it before proceeding.
  • * Cannot be used exclusively with povo2.0 Data Only.
