Documents required for identity verification

When signing up for povo2.0, we must verify the identity of the contract holder.

*If you are using povo2.0 Data Only, you do not need to provide identification documents.

<Identity Verification>

Identity verification will be conducted online.

You can use the following documents to verify your identity.

My Number Card
Driver's license
Residence card

Using the IC chip on your My Number Card for identity verification is recommended because there is no waiting time and no photo is required.
If you have forgotten your My Number Card password (6-16 alphanumeric characters) or do not have a My Number Card, you can proceed by having your driver's license or residence card's IC chip read and your face photographed.

*Please verify that the address, name, and date of birth listed on your identification document match the information of the contract holder applying for the service.

My Number Card

If you choose the IC chip reading + password (6-16 digit alphanumeric) option, there is no waiting time and no photo is required, so it is highly recommended.
If you forget your password, you can use identity verification via IC chip reading and facial recognition.

Please make sure it matches the information in your application.

⑤Photo of your face
Your Personal Number Card (My Number Card) must have your photo attached.
⑥Procedures section
If there are any changes to the information provided due to moving, etc., the changes will be recorded. Please make sure that the address matches.
*Please remove the protective cover before use to read the IC chip.

Driver's license

You will need two 4-digit PINs that you registered when your driver's license was issued.
If your name/address contains characters that cannot be used for identity verification (non-standard characters), we will not be able to proceed with the procedure. Please use your My Number Card to complete the procedure.

① Please confirm that the "name," "date of birth," and "address" recorded on the IC chip of your driver's license match the information provided in your application.
②Please make sure that it is within validity.

Residence card

①Please confirm that your validity of stay is 90 days or more.
② If your address information is "undecided," or if there is an update history on the back of your residence card, we cannot proceed with the procedure. Please complete the procedure using your My Number Card, or have your residence card reissued and try again.

Important Notice

For identity verification, please use povo2.0 app version 1.59.0 or later.
For online identity verification, our company uses Liquid eKYC from Liquid Co., Ltd.
When reading IC chips or taking facial images, please ensure that the device is fixed in a well-lit area and that it is not obscured by your hands or fingers, so that the necessary information can be correctly confirmed.
When taking a photo of your face, please make sure that your hair does not cover your face or eyes, remove sunglasses, masks, hats, etc., and take the photo in a well-lit location.
If the person in your identification document does not match the person in the photograph of you, we may be unable to verify your identity and may have to cancel your application.
