povo has a basic fee of 0 yen* and can be used in a variety of ways!

Use it as a "quick addition" to your regular line

To use this service, you will need a SIM-free or SIM-unlocked povo2.0 compatible device.

In addition, if you wish to use eSIM, please make sure that your smartphone or other device is compatible with eSIM before proceeding. If you select eSIM on an incompatible device, you will not be able to communicate.

*A Wi-Fi environment is required to set up SIM unlock.*If you are using an iPhone or iPad with an iOS version earlier than 15, we recommend updating to the latest version in advance.*If you are currently using an iPad, please apply for a new contract.

Procedure flow details

STEP 1Confirm the email address you will register with povo2.0

This information is required for registration and other procedures when you use povo2.0. Please register a valid email address.

*You cannot register carrier email addresses with povo2.0. Please prepare an email address other than a carrier email address. Also, when registering an email address, you can only use three symbols: "- (hyphen)", "_ (underscore)", and "." (dot). *For more information about other email addresses that cannot be registered with povo2.0, please click here.

STEP2Identification and customer information entry

1Get a new phone number from the link below and apply

2Login(Enter the email address you decided in STEP 01)

3Follow the instructions on the screen and enter the required information.

(*Select SIM/contract type, confirm important information, enter credit card information)

4the eKYC (electronic identity verification) screen.Enter your customer information on

5Once eKYC authentication is complete, you will receive an email at your registered address. Please check your email address.

6Press the "Verify your identity" button.

7Follow the instructions on the screen and enter the required information.

*The items required for the procedure are listed here. *You will need to be able to receive emails to complete the procedure. Please set up the domain [@povo.jp] so that you can receive emails. *If you are unable to launch the camera during eKYC authentication, click here. *If you apply after 9pm, eKYC authentication will be carried out sequentially from 9am the following morning. *Click here to download the "povo2.0 app."

STEP 3SIM activation procedure

*Please make sure that the SIM lock is unlocked beforehand.

For SIM cards

1After signing the contract, you will receive the SIM card by mail.

2Activate the SIM card (switch the line)

  • Contract procedures are carried out sequentially, so during busy times it may take several days to complete.

  • Important points to note when using dual SIM
  • You cannot register with carrier email address on povo2.0.
  • Corporate customers cannot apply.
