Three things you need to do to complete the procedure

    *Please be sure to remove the protective cover before taking photos.
  • Residence card

Even if you don't have a credit card, you can use Postpay(Paidy)*.

To use this service, you will need a SIM-free or SIM-unlocked povo2.0 compatible device.

In addition, if you wish to use eSIM, please make sure that your smartphone or other device is compatible with eSIM before proceeding. If you select eSIM on an incompatible device, you will not be able to communicate.

*A Wi-Fi environment is required to set up SIM unlock.*If you are using an iPhone or iPad with an iOS version earlier than 15, we recommend updating to the latest version in advance.*If you are currently using an iPad, please apply for a new contract.

Flow of use

STEP1Identity verification and customer information entry

3Follow the instructions on the screen and enter the required information.

(*Select SIM/contract type, confirm important information, enter credit card information)

4the eKYC (electronic identity verification) screen.Enter your customer information on

(If you are processing online, you will need to download the app before completing eKYC.)

5Once eKYC authentication is complete, you will receive an email at your registered address. Please check your email address.

6Press the "Verify your identity" button.

7Follow the instructions on the screen and enter the required information.

*You will need to be able to receive emails to complete the procedure. Please set up the domain [@ povo.jp] so that you can receive emails. * Click here for what you need to complete the procedure. * Click here if you are unable to start the camera during eKYC authentication. *If you apply after 9pm, eKYC authentication will be carried out sequentially from 9am the following morning.

STEP 2Obtain  MNP reservation number

With MNP One Stop, you can obtain  MNP reservation number at the time of application (for more information, click here).
You can also get it from your current mobile phone company.

Those who have already obtained  MNP reservation number

Select "Customers with MNP reservation number" from the app and enter your mobile phone number and MNP reservation number.

  • From the three-line menu in the top right corner of the screen, select "My Rakuten Mobile" → "Contract Plan" → "Various Procedures" → "Switch to another carrier (obtain MNP reservation number)" to complete the procedure.

Important points to note when using MNP

When you perform MNP, your contract with your previous telephone company will be terminated (cancelled) and you will enter into a new contract (new contract) with the new telephone company, so please be aware of the following points.

  • You cannot transfer the email address issued by your current mobile phone company.

  • Any services provided by your current mobile phone company (such as fees plans and discount services) will end upon cancellation.

  • Content and electronic money provided by content providers may not be transferable.

  • If you have signed up for a discounted service such as an annual contract, you may incur additional charges upon cancellation.

  • MNP does not apply to data-only services (single services).

STEP 3SIM activation procedure

*Please make sure that the SIM lock is unlocked beforehand.

For SIM cards

1After signing the contract, you will receive the SIM card by mail.

2Activate the SIM card (switch the line)

3Insert the SIM card into the device

4Configure communication settings (*1)

5Call the test number (111/toll-free) (※2)

6Activation procedure completed

Important Notice

  • Contract procedures are carried out sequentially, so during busy times it may take several days to complete.
  • Once completed, we will contact you at the email address you registered. Please set up your email with the domain [@povo.jp] so that you can receive emails.
  • Important points to note when using dual SIM
  • You cannot register with carrier email address on povo2.0.
  • Corporate customers cannot apply.
